According to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resource website, the S-rank of all the Catalpa species in Ontario (Southern Catalpa, Catalpa Ovata and Northern Catalpa) is ranked as SE1. This means that the Northern Catalpa species is considered extremely rare in Ontario and is believed that this species does not originate in Ontario as it is ranked as Exotic.[i] However, the Global ranking of these species with the exception of the Northern Catalpa is unknown. The Northern Catalpa species G-rank (Global ranking) is ranked between G3 and G4. This means that the Northern Catalpa species around the world is rare to common.[ii]
